Valynda F. "Val" Basinger is a paralegal in the Eminent Domain Practice Group of Best Best & Krieger LLP. Ms. Basinger provides legal assistance for the firm's public agency clients and currently serves as a paralegal for the cities of Corona, Fontana, Ontario, San Jacinto and Shafter, as well as the public agencies of the Colton Joint Unified School District, Rialto Unified School District, Riverside Unified School District, Antelope Valley East Kern Water Agency, Lake Hemet Municipal Water District, Riverside County Flood Control and Water Conservation District, Fontana Redevelopment Agency and Victor Valley Reclamation Agency.
Ms. Basinger assists the firm's clients with pre-condemnation procedural matters, from the appraisal and offer stage to the drafting of resolution of necessity documents, and continues to offer support through the litigation process, which includes drafting litigation documents and extensive case management (service and tracking of party defendants, assisting with preparing attorneys for court hearings) and assisting clients with settlements through negotiated purchase or acquisition through the full condemnation process.
Ms. Basinger joined Best Best and Krieger LLP in 2003 and has 30 years experience as a litigation paralegal specializing in complex litigation, real property and title issues. She is an active member of California Legal Assistants Association of Orange County and the International Right-of-Way Association (Inland Empire).
Ms. Basinger received her Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University, Fullerton and has received Paralegal Certificates from the University of Southern California. She has also received certification in Law Office Administration from the University of California, Irvine.
Ms. Basinger has served in the position of Secretary and Treasurer and is now serving as Events Co-Chair with Claudia Chase for IRWA Chapter 57.
