I have been an active member of Chapter 57 for over 20 years and on the Chapter Board for most of those years having held various elected positions during this time including President 2001 and several years on the PDC (Professional Development Committee).

I live in Moreno Valley with my wife Kathryn and have 3 children two of whom are still at home. My career path has been varied. I have been a dairy and crop farmer, building trades instructor, general contractor, developer/investor, property manager, township supervisor and tax assessor independent fee appraiser and then a regulatory appraiser with Ca Dept of Savings & Loan during the S&L crisis.

With the wind down of the S&L crisis I transferred to Caltrans Dist 12 in OC then to Dist 8 in SBD then to Dist 7 as Chief Appraiser in LA then back to Dist 8 as a ROW coordinator and estimator. I retired from Caltrans 5.5 years ago to open the Riverside office Epic Land Solutions when Epic had about 8 people (4 of which were the executive team). The Inland Empire office grew rapidly into the most successful and profitable office of the 4 offices with the great help of the executive team and excellent staff.

I left Epic Land Solutions at the end of 2009 and started Corridor Analysis. I have always had an entrepreneurial sprit and wanted to run my own business concentrating on projects in Southern California, primarily in the Inland Empire. The Southern California market is arguably the most competitive market for R/W companies in the Country due to the quality management, strength and experience of the competing firms. Our industry and public agencies are truly blessed having more than just one dominate firm. In opening Corridor Analysis is understand the friendly competition and challenges ahead for a new firm to get a foothold. I also know that as long as you are able to provide excellent and competent service to your client you will succeed. Reputation is everything.

Comment on Chapter 57. This is one of the best run chapters in IRWA and I feel no ROW firm could be successful in the Inland Empire without active participation in this chapter. The chapter is focal point for education and communication among all areas of Right-of-Way. It is an opportunity to exchange ideas, methods and solutions to challenges in our profession. Education is the key to our professional future and to stay competitive you need to be constantly improving and educating yourself. My motto over the years has been: “THE MORE I KNOW THE MORE I KNOW I DON’T KNOW”.
