My appraisal career began in 1981 as a commercial appraiser trainee with Wayne Jones, ASA, IFAS in Pasadena. Mr. Jones was my mentor for the IFAS senior member designation. In 1987, I went to work for Interstate Appraisal Corporation in Riverside. Bill Reinhart was my manager and mentor for the MAI designation. I earned the MAI designation in 1991. In 1992, I was hired by Topa Savings Bank of Los Angeles as their Chief Appraiser and Vice President.
In 1995, I began my own appraisal practice doing mostly lender work. About four years ago I took the Condemnation courses offered by the Appraisal Institute and I started doing appraisal work for public agencies. My appraisal practice has changed from doing lender work to doing work for public agencies. I joined the IRWA Chapter 57 in January 2008 and I would like to begin the course work for the SR/WA designation.
Joe served as the Membership Chair in 2009 and as Secretary in 2010 for an unprecedented eighteen months as the Chapter moved from Calendar Year to Fiscal Year. He is now the Treasurer. We look forward to having him on the Board for several more years and as a Chapter member, too!
